Eureka Van & Storage - Substance Testing Programs
Since 1991 the USDOT has required interstate motor carriers to implement substance-testing programs for commercial drivers. Eureka began its own testing programs even before that time, and since then, all qualified drivers participate in our testing program.
These testing requirements are listed in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations under section 382. Most states have adopted these same rules, and carriers should check with their own state to obtain a copy of the requirements. For a carrier to comply they must do the following, and Eureka not only complies but exceeds these requirements:
1) Establish a written substance testing policy and have signed acknowledgements from all drivers used under the carriers own authority.
2) Setup and manage their own testing procedures for
a) Pre-employment testing
b) Post accident testing
c) Reasonable cause testing
d) Random testing
3) Maintain an annual summary of their testing results.
